We're headquartered in "Riviera Club" Studio, Connecticut. Neither a Club nor the Riviera, it's an English Bloomsbury and Paris Place de Vosges garden that encircles a barn near the beach that's actually more like a Jacques Tati movie ! The Riviera Club of my childhood in Indianapolis has big playful swimming pools with giant slides ("trust the French to put a wiggle in it" Mahtin says), and Miles Davis played at the Riviera Club with my trumpeter dad Harry's band in the '40's.
New Haven the arts city is nearby, Louise and Harry are in West Hartford. Louise exhibited her Shirret technique and rugs around New England for 20 years.
Harry makes the needles and all products except English wool come from America.
I'm proud of my mother's achievements, first as a young radio acter and Big Band vocalist, then as book reviewer, then as author and originator of The Art of Shirret. She was a pink-wearing feminist, happiest amidst literary and needle artists.
Thank you for the opportunity to share her remarkable body of work so you can be inspired AND buy supplies.
